Owl daybook
Owl staffers
can find the most up-to-date discussion of Owl doings, bulletin board style, at
this link. The newest stuff is first; as you scroll down you’ll get the
oldies-but-goodies in order. See also the staff bulletin board on The Owl’s Web
site, http://clubs.pgcc.edu/theowl/
For Owl
staffers who are paying attention during the summer of ’07: our first issue
will be dated Wednesday, Sept. 12. You know what that means: the paper goes to
press the previous Friday, Sept. 7. Articles that appear in that issue need to
be finished by Wednesday, Sept. 5 AT THE LATEST – preferably earlier. So we
really need to start working on articles earlier than the first day of classes
– Monday, Aug. 27.
What’s to write
about?
Bladen Hall,
at long last, is finished, and many functions that were in the temporary
buildings are back in their new digs in Bladen Hall. It looks great (and we
need pictures). Will the temporaries go away now? Who can tell us what will
happen to them?
The college’s
new computer network is falling into place. A significant milestone was
apparently reached in early July. What do students need to know about this?
What’s new? What’s still to be done?
We have a new
president, Dr. Dukes. What are her plans?
The college
got a nice chunk of money from the county, for a change – more even than was
requested. What differences will that make? Will tuition be reduced?
Our top fall
sport is soccer, and PGCC often has nationally ranked soccer squads with no fans
to watch. What’s with that?
We have a
story working on the nearly finished high technology building, but need
pictures to go with it.
Anybody got
some time this summer to work on these stories?
