Spring 2012

Dear English 1340 Weekend Participants:

Welcome to the spring 2012 weekend section of English 1340: Writing About Technical Topics (course reference number LW01, syn. 46695). The dates for the course, as shown on the syllabus, are February 3-4; February 10-11; and February 24-25. We are scheduled to meet in TBA, Fridays from 6:00-10:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Attendance at each class meeting is mandatory; allow sufficient time to get to campus and find the room. Children may not attend class.

The course actually begins before the first class session with you doing some reading and writing assignments. Those first assignments are due the first day of class, and are explained in "First Assignments" The syllabus details the schedule for our meetings, including due dates for assignments, along with other policies that will lead to a successful class. The syllabus also indicates the required and recommended textbooks, and how you will be graded.

Class meetings will involve a variety of activities, including some lecture, discussion time, workshop time, and computer lab time. Be prepared to actively participate, since participation counts toward your final grade.

Be sure to review the syllabus thoroughly, and contact me promptly if you have any questions. My office phone number is 301-322-0566, and my e-mail address is goldberj@pgcc.edu. My office is M-3052. I look forward to meeting you at our first meeting on January 28.

Sincerely,

Robert J. Goldberg
Professor, English
