Meet Professor Greene

Hello!

My specialty is teaching effective communication skills. It's fulfilling to see students jumpstart their careers with improved writing and speaking skills.

I started my own career at PGCC many years ago, returning to PGCC in 2002  as a Professor of English. I haven't always been a professor. My other professional roles have included trainer, author,  editor, marketer, career development specialist, grant writer/recipient, systems analyst, office automation specialist, desktop publishing project manager, and proposal manager.

In the 1970's, I edited a career planning textbook and developed a course for adult students changing careers. One U.S. Small Business Administration office used my career development manual for their own professional development training.

In the 1980's, I worked for Martin Marietta, Calculon, and PSI International to help their clients improve and automate their communication systems.

In the 1990's, I  returned to college teaching at Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach, Virginia. There I began presenting business communication seminars for professionals and managers. In 1999, I  launched my distance education career by winning Virginia grants to develop more interactive online technical writing courses. This year, I'm teaching online at PGCC and UMUC. My classroom and online courses at PGCC have included English 1000, English 1020, English 1320, and English 1340.

Currently, I live with my husband and younger son in Columbia, Maryland. My older son, Geoff Greene, graduated from PGCC in 2004. Because he  took advantage of PGCC's unique leadership opportunities, Georgetown University's School of International Relations offered him a generous transfer scholarship.

Thousands of PGCC students/graduates have their own  success stories to tell. Please take time to explore our college's programs for your unique academic or professional advancement. These programs include scholarships, tutoring and mentoring support, leadership and career development, sports, theater, music, clubs, the Honors Program and Honors Academy, Collegian Centers, and the Hillman Program for Entrepreneurs.
