FINAL LAB EXERCISE
Since this is a final exercise, step-by-step
directions will not be given as they were in the other exercises. It is up to you to remember how to do these
things. If you do not, you can always
refresh your memory by returning to the web page.
- Open
up an Excel spreadsheet
- In
cell A1, type in ‘School Store Price List for 2000 and 2001’
- Merge
cells A1 through E1 – this will automatically center your text
- Change
the text size to 12 and make it bold
- In
cell A2, type in ‘2000’, and in cell D2, type in ‘2001’
- Center
these two numbers
- In
cell A3, type in ‘Product’, and in cell B3, type in ‘Price’
- Make
these words centered and bold
- In
cells A4 through A9, type in the following school supplies: ‘pencils’, ‘pens’, ‘rulers’,
‘notebooks’, ‘erasers’, and ‘folders’, respectively – remember that the
column may need to be widened to accommodate all text
- In
cells B4 through B9, type in ‘1.2’, ‘1.5’, ‘2’, ‘3.25’, ‘.75’, and ‘2.5’,
respectively
- Now,
format the numbers in the price column to currency
- Copy
‘Product’ and ‘Price’ and paste them under the ‘2001’ heading
- Copy
the school supplies and paste them under the product heading – remember
that the column may need to be widened
- Give
the school supplies the following prices:
‘1.25’, ‘1.5’, ‘2.1’, ‘3’, ‘.9’, and ‘2.5’, respectively
- Format
the numbers in the price column to currency
- In
cells A11 and D11, type in ‘Average Price’ – the column may need to be
widened
- In
cell B11, use the Excel formula to get the average price (your formula
will look like this: =AVERAGE(B4:B9)
- Copy
this formula into cell D11 to get the 2001 average price
- But
borders around the 2000 information (cells A2 through B11) and the 2001
information (cells D2 though D11)
- Make
the words ‘Average Price’ red (don’t forget – it’s written twice)
- Give
the cells containing ‘Product’ and ‘Price’ a green background on the 2000
side, and a blue background on the 2001 side
- Change
the font size of ‘2000’ and ‘2001’ to size 12 – change them at the same
time
- Change
the font of all the school supplies to the ‘Century’ font – change them at
the same time
- Center
all of the prices on both sides
- Insert
a hyperlink to the office supply store “Staples” in cell A13 – the web
page name should be ‘http://www.staples.com/’, but the text to display is
‘Staples Website’ – This hyperlink will run over the cell, but that’s okay
– leave it the way it is
Your final worksheet should look
