Resource Exchange (SHARE) Food Network

The SHARE Food Network distributes high quality, affordable nutritious
food as a way to build community and strengthen families. Organized
through 320 churches and community groups, participants perform two hours of
volunteer service and pay $19.00 monthly to purchase groceries worth
approximately $40.00 - $45.00.

DC Food Finder
The DC Food Finder will increase awareness of existing food
resources in the city and ensure that residents can stretch their food dollar
as far as possible to get through a tough time.
An information and referral service that
links those in need of emergency services in Washington DC, Montgomery County,
Prince George’s County, and Northern Virginia to agencies in their area that
can assist them.
Women Infants and Children
(WIC)
WIC provides Federal grants to States for supplemental foods, health
care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding,
and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age
five who are found to be at nutritional risk.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – formerly
known as “Food Stamps”
SNAP helps low-income people and families buy the food they
need for good health. You apply
for benefits by completing a State application form. Benefits are provided
on an electronic card that is used like an ATM card and accepted at most
grocery stores.
