Sa 27      (MUST Register by February 19th) (Civic Engagement) Maryland Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) Stream Waders Volunteer Stream Sampling ProgramStream Waders training session 8:30AM - 3:30PM:  Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary (Prince George's County).  DNR needs your help to "fill the gaps" in areas being sampled by Maryland Biological Stream Survey crews as well as areas that have not been previously sampled by Stream Waders volunteers. So please come learn how you can continue to help Stream Waders contribute to Maryland's statewide water quality monitoring on a Saturday.
Complementary, continental style breakfast (juice, coffee, water, donuts, etc.).  Please pack your own lunch as we will be taking a break between the lecture training and the outside field training.  Remember to pack plenty of warm clothes that you don't mind getting wet.  Waders are a plus!!

Sa  27      Student National Dental Association at Howard University College of Dentistry "IMPRESSIONS" PROGRAM for pre-dental students. The "IMPRESSIONS" program is an innovative recruitment program, with the main goal of increasing the number of applications and acceptances of minority/underserved students into dental school.   All registration forms are due by March 12, 2010.  (Contact Professor McMillen at McmillJL@pgcc.edu )

We 14  National Institutes of Health (NIH) Seminar Series, “"Using Genetic Information to Improve Public Health" by Dr. Dirk de Heer, NHGRI Postdoctoral Fellow in the Social and Behavioral Research Branch. (National Human Genome Research Institute), 3:00pm-4:00pm, Chesapeake Hall 109

Sa 17    CIVIC ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITY (8 AM to 1 PM) The National Technical Association Annual Math Contest for about one hundred 5th thru 12th graders.  Co-Sponsored by STEM Collegian Center. STEM Collegians are needed  to proctor exams, assist in grading and assorted other light tasks.  Continental breakfast before contest and awards presented just after noon with a pizza lunch.
