Welcome to the first edition of the Instructional Forum for the new semester and the new year. For this issue, I will be brief because this is a particularly "meaty," thought-provoking edition. The number of articles contributed demonstrates the thoughtfulness, involvement, and vibrancy of our faculty and staff. 

Earlier I e-mailed you a "Semi-Annual Update" recapping many of last semester's important events and activities, so I won't repeat them here.  I do want to remind you that we are about to start the self-study process in preparation for a visit from Middle States and  re-accreditation. The self-study is a time of serious, honest self-reflection in which we all need to participate. As the task forces are formed later this semester, please be ready to become involved. Serving on a task force is a valuable experience. Don't hesitate to volunteer. When the opportunity arises to participate, please do so. Serving on a self-evaluation task force is an excellent way to learn about the college and to have a voice in making recommendations for the college.

Our self-study and the Middle States visiting team's evaluation determine whether or not we receive re-accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The quality of our self-study report will be determined by our commitment to improvement as a learning-centered college. I am counting on you.
