Passing the Mantle

The Honors Program has grown and benefited from the time, talent, and expertise of many PGCC faculty members. Two of the many faculty who have contributed to the program most recently are Professor Jeffrey Snodgrass, English, who served last year as the co-advisor for Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the international honor society for two-year colleges, and Dr. Nelson Kofie, Sociology, who served for the past three years as the assistant coordinator of the Honors Program for Marketing and Recruitment. We thank them and look forward to their continued support of the program. 

New Assistant Honors Coordinators

The fall 2004 semester welcomes two new faces to the Honors Program, including two new assistant coordinators. 

Lindsey A. Dodson is the assistant Honors Coordinator for Students. In this position, Dodson will support Honors student retention, graduation, and success in the college. She will also act as the PTK co-advisor. 

“We are thrilled to have Lindsey join the Honors Program team,” said  Melinda Frederick, coordinator of the Honors Program and Honors Academy. “Her vast professional experiences will be a benefit to our students.”

Dodson has been a faculty member at PGCC teaching ESL classes since 2001. In addition, she has taught ESL and American Culture while in Bulgaria. Prior to teaching, she practiced law – working on patent litigation cases.

Dodson earned her M.S. in Audiology from the University of Washington and her M.A. in TESOL from American University. She is also a graduate of Hamline University School of Law.

Natalie Webb is the assistant Honors Coordinator for Activities, Marketing, and Recruitment.  In this role, Webb will be responsible for promoting the Honors Program and Honors Academy.

“Natalie's experience, enthusiasm, and creativity will be a tremendous asset to the Honors Program,” said Frederick.

Webb, who has taught nutrition throughout the Washington Metropolitan area since 1995, is an adjunct instructor in the Nutrition, Foods, and Hospitality Management Department. She is the founder and president of Nutrition Network, Inc., a nutrition consulting firm in Germantown, MD. She has worked as a consultant with professional sport teams, health clubs, major medical centers, and universities. Currently, she is a consultant/spokesperson for the food and beverage industry on minority health campaigns. 

Webb received a B.S. in dietetics, food service management at Drexel University in Philadelphia, and received her M.S. in clinical nutrition at New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, NY. She is a registered dietitian, and is licensed in the District of Columbia and Maryland.

The Honors Program thanks the faculty who have advised, instructed, and mentored these students during their academic tenure at the college. The success of our Honors Academy students upon graduation and transfer to four-year colleges and universities is a testament to the outstanding foundation that they have received while enrolled at Prince George’s Community College.
