their awards at the Seventeenth Annual Faculty and Staff Honors Convocation held
on October 26, 2004.

PRESIDENT'S MEDAL
Mary Jane Shearer

On October 26,
2004, at the annual awards ceremony following College Enrichment Day,
President Ronald A. Williams presented the President’s Medal to Mary Jane
Shearer, program coordinator in Workforce Development and Continuing
Education, who joins a distinguished group of current and former colleagues.
Like her predecessors, Shearer has made exceptional and unique contributions
to Prince George’s Community College. And, like previous winners, she
embodies just about everything for which Prince George’s Community College
stands. President Williams described Shearer’s contribution to the college
and our students as “immeasurable,” and then quoted some of the comments
from letters of nomination. One letter stated that “Shearer is Prince
George’s Community College’s biggest cheerleader,” further noting that
Shearer “is responsible for the BOSS series, the Business Owners Success
Series program” and is “associated with assorted chambers of commerce, the
Small Business Development Center, the Prince George’s County Public
Relations Association, and the Small Business Administration.”
