“Your Quiet Whispers”
By Rebecca Berg
Your
quiet whispers linger
Reminding
me of the many things
You
did for me
That
now I do for mine:
Bandage the scrapes and bruises
Kiss the tears away
Busy my needle on the torn pant knee
Picnics at the park
Pushing the swings higher and higher
Feeding the frantic, quacking ducks
Stories and cuddling at bedtime
Tucking the covers in
And, Now I lay me down…
Would
that you were here to tuck me in;
Keep
whispering.
